Microsoft Office Specialist Macedonian finals at the i-bank store
Through the organization of the National Microsoft Office Specialist contest by Certiadria, Macedonia is participating at this global contest for the first time, demonstrating the readiness and computer skills of the students aged 12-22.
A total of 1430 candidates from all over the country took 1960 tests in Word, Excel, Powerpoint (MS Office 2010 and 2013) during the period November 2015 May 2016. All of those that passed the tests are now globally certified, as a confirmation of the basic IT literacy that nowadays is becoming a requirement in every process of professional development.
Ranking with the top results, the best 45 students today participated in the contest to carry the title Microsoft Office Specialist for Macedonia in MS Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
"Each knowledge deserves recognition, but also a certificate support. Our goal is to stimulate the younger generations to show that they know, but also to certify their knowledge by passing tests and gaining diplomas recognized worldwide. These certificates are unique proof for the business and academic community of possesing the necesarry computer skills. The organization of such contests is an additional opportunity for our students to compare their skills on global levels, and their knowledge to be rewarded with a trip to Orlando Florida, USA". The final competition is taking place at the i-bank store of Stopanska banka AD - Skopje, that will completely cover the main prize: trip to the global competition in Disneyland, Orlando, Florida, for the winner, the Microsoft Office Specialist for Macedonia. The next best 6 finalists will recieve vouchers for free courses at Semos Edukacija.

The city of Skopje, starting January 2016 became partner of the first national Microsoft Office Specialists competition, by supporting 500 of the best students from Skopje high schools, allowing them to take the official test for free.
"The Mayor of Skopje, Mr. Koce Trajanovski supports the competitive spirit of the young generations, dedicated to studying and competing outside the everyday school activities. According to him, by investing in improving the digital literacy especially within the formal educational process will contribute to the improved employment possibilies and job productivity, and eventually to better economic productivity of the society."
"In an economy of knowledge, the people of Macedonia are its bigges resourse. They must have access to knowledge and gaining skills so that they can use the benefits of ICT. Without these skills, people have bigger difficulties finding jobs: the basic IT skills are a passport for new opportunities for millions of citizens and are structural elements for attracting investments, innovations and openning new job positions in the global economy. According to a study by IDC made in 2013, the employers asked for the candidates that have 20 specific skills. The third skill on the list was Microsoft Office skills. The first national competition would not have been realized without the support from Microsoft Macedonia, Stopanska banka AD - Skopje, Informatics Association in the country, the City of Skopje, Municipality Strumica and Semos Education.
The exams during the period October - May were implemented in several testing centers across the country: high schools in Skopje, Strumica, Ohrid, Prilep, Semos Education, American College Skopje, PSU Algoritam, and Poliproekt from Stip.
Marko Markovic is the first Microsoft Office Specialist for Macedonia
Marko Markovic was working on the test for PowerPoint from Microsoft Office 2013 and achieved the maximum 1000 points for 18 minutes and 25 seconds!
By organizing the National competition for Microsoft Office Specialist, by Certiadria, Macedonia will participate for the first time in the world competition, presenting the computer skills of the students from primary and high schools and university students with age from 13 to 22 years.
The highest ranked students, i.e. the best 45 participants were competing for the title Microsoft Office Specialist of Macedonia, for their skills in Microsoft Office applications Word, Excel or PowerPoint. Among these 45 students, was also Marko, who joined the competition a month ago and was qualified for the final competition. He is a second year student in High School "Rade Jovchevski Korcagin". His mentor is the Professor for Informatic technology and program languages Mrs. Zaklina Prekic, who together with two more professors from the same high school have prepared 80 students for participation in the competition and their result was 10 students in the final competition.
